PAF Community Initiatives

The overall bojective of PAF Community Initiatives is the mitigation of the harsh and negative effects of underdevelopment on the poor. PAFs programme intends to strengthen communities’ abilities to improve their own situation through non-formal education, promoting self-reliance and empowerment. The programme seeks to improve the capacities of PAF structures; improve information base and provide analysis to enhance the structures planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of development initiatives. Documentation of this work is used to guide advocacy work on policy and practice.

community schoolPAF supports community-based projects, which are locally identified and managed. Activities are in education, health, nutrition, agriculture and economic empowerment.. The role of PAF is to ensure enhancement of sustainability, ownership, community involvement, to strengthen communities capacity, and revive the sense of unity of purpose and self-help community driven development.

Non formal Education Programme

Objectives

To popularise REFLECT Approach among other stakeholders
To sharpen skills of facilitators
To advocate for appropriate adult literacy policies

Formal Education Programme

Objectives

To promote increased access to education by mostly orphans, vulnerable children and thereby having increased enrolment, retention.
To provide quality education through the community schools reaching out to orphans and vulnerable children
To increase and enhance community and stakeholder participation in educational activities aimed at improving children’s welfare

Micro Enterprise Development

Objectives

To promote economic justice through micro-enterprise development among vulnerable groups in PAF’s operational areas
To increase knowledge levels about practical and economic empowerment skills
To promote life skills among the children, youths and women.

Gender and Human Rights

Objectives

To promote gender equality in all PAF programmes
To promote and protect the rights of orphans and vulnerable children through formal and non-formal education.
