Who we are.

Peoples Action Forum (PAF) is an indigenous Zambian non-profit organization working in 3 provinces covering seven rural districts.

PAF was founded in 1994, out of awareness of the rising expressions of helplessness from the rural majority. This was achieved by a group of concerned social workers, educators, lawyers, bankers, health specialists, theologians and administrators. Among them was former Zambian Supreme Court Justice, Mrs. Florence Mumba, who served as the organisation’s first Chairperson.

It was first called People Act Foundation, and later renamed to People’s Action Forum, recognising the importance of community action for change

PAF’s work in Zambia aims at achieving a people-centered development in which people will be aware of their rights through

  • empowerment of rural communities to take charge of their own destinies
  • highlighting critical issues concerning women and children in difficult circumstances, and serve as their advocate
  • development programmes that enable the rural poor to have a voice in local, regional and national affairs
